How to Make a School Scrapbooking Border

If you want to create a scrapbook album to commemorate a specific school year, you may be wondering what to use for a school scrapbooking border. Sure, most people use those block letters or school buses and these work just fine but if you want to be creative you can come up with so many other scrapbooking school pages and things to use to help you celebrate the school year.
For example, think specifically of that child. What kinds of activities do they like to do during the school year or what is their favorite academic subject? You aren’t limited with scrapbook layout pages. If they like science then use science-related objects as a school scrapbooking border. This could include atoms and molecules or beakers. You can even try equations. If they enjoy reading or creative writing then books with classic literature titles may work. If they excel in music then of course musical notes or their favorite instrument can also make for a great border. Kids into sports might inspire you to use sports items as a school scrapbooking border. Bats, balls, racquets, and even sports shoes can make great items!
Another creative idea for a school scrapbooking border is to use different scrapbook poems and phrases in different fonts and typestyles and use those as a border. There are many phrases and sayings you can use, but you many want to ask your children for ideas. Of course the phrases that kids like to use do change constantly so do not assume you know what is cool in kid lingo today- be sure to ask your children! Getting your children involved in designing a school scrapbooking border can also be a fun and challenging project for the both of you to do together.
Remember too that you don’t even need to use school-related items for a school scrapbooking border. Sometimes you can just use a good color scheme like primary colors for elementary school chlidren or the school colors of your kids’ school for older high school students. If you carry the same color scheme throughout your album pages, you can tie everything together and have a terrific looking finished product. You might also try using small die cuts to attach together on your page layout as a school scrapbooking border rather than just something you write or draw on the page. This could be mini books, apple shapes or small brick school houses that you decorate and then attach to the page as a border.

Where to Find Free Scrapbooking Software
If there’s one great thing about scrapbooking, it’s that this is a very affordable hobby that shouldn’t take a huge chunk out of anyone’s budget. However, as cheap as it may be, many are still on the lookout for some free scrapbooking software in order to create some digital albums and pages. While there may be many options out there, it’s surprising where and how you can find free scrapbooking software either online or in the stores. The key is first knowing what to look for!
What this means is that digital scrapbook pages don’t need to be designed with free scrapbooking software or any other program specifically designed for scrapbooks. You can easily design beautiful page layouts using a varietyof programs and including your own design elements. For instance, instead of free scrapbooking software you can try Microsoft Publisher which is a program designed specifically for creating graphic materials like business cards, brochures, advertisements, and flyers. This program also works well for scrapbook pages because it works so easily with added clipart, photographs, and text boxes. You probably already have Publisher on your computer! So while you may want to use a good quality free scrapbooking software, learning how to use Publisher might be an even better way to go. Using this program, it’s easy to import your photo, put a border around it, add some text or wording, and move items around until you find a design you like. When you print your scrapbook page, you can even add more embellishments to your layout like eyelets or ribbon to add some texture to your design.
You might even have a scrapbooking software program on your computer and not know it. Photoshop and Photoshop Elements can be used for digital scrapbooking. You can take online digital scrapbooking classes that specialize in using Photoshop for scrapbooking, like jessica sprague downloads. Jessica Sprague is a contributing editor at Creating Keepsakes, and she also teaches photoshop photo editing techniques.
One surprising way to find free scrapbooking software is to look for software that isn’t actually advertised as being scrapbooking software. Software that is designed for marketing materials can also work well for scrapbook pages. There are also many places that have free clipart, free fonts, and other free design elements that are perfect for scrapbooks. By collecting enough of these elements, you can design your own digital scrapbook albums. Some even make scrapbook pages using Microsoft Word, once they’re skilled at manipulating these different elements. You can even shop for affordable and sometimes free scrapbooking software if you go to discount places like eBay or even the bargain areas of your local computer store. Are you looking for scrapbooking layout ideas? There is an almost unlimited number of software programs that you can use to create scrapbook layouts if you take the time to learn more about these programs.
